4.2.4 Additional demand for research

The setting and hardening process of concrete has not been fully understood due to its complex composition and chemistry. The use of tailored admixtures may enable the production of real nanocement with superior physical properties in the future. However, the production costs are the most critical issue caused by the enormous quantities of concrete used per year. It is the price which limits a wider use of tailored nanomaterial in concrete today.
