3.4.6 Current situation within the EU

Concerning R&D in the field of nanoparticulate metal powders, european countries currently belong to the global innovation leaders. However, USA, Japan and China have an even strong position in this field with even higher contribution to scientific publications.

In the area of nanocrystalline metals Europe´s position in international comparison is quite good. German scientists in particular seem to benefit from a 20 year old tradition in materials research in this field and a series of scientific institutions are investigating the area.
