reportCarbon based nanomaterials
3.2.1 Definition

In the context of the project investigations "carbon based nanomaterials" (CBN) are defined as materials with the nanoscale component consisting of pure carbon. Carbon based nanomaterials appear as particles (0-dimensional), tubes and wires (1-dimensional), films, coatings surfaces (2-dimensional) or in bulk like foams, porous carbon material etc. (3-dimensional). Polymers and other carbon containing nanomaterial is not included here. Appropriate materials may be fond in chapters on other material classes.
